Wendy Arnold

Wendy Arnold was born in New Zealand and grew up in Perth. She attended WA Institute of Technology (now Curtin University) through the mid-70s where she studied painting and printmaking and later completed a postgraduate certificate at the UNSW College of Fine Arts (Alexander Mackie College) in Sydney.

She was a co-founder of the fashion label Studibaker Hawk and was a driving force behind the flamboyant designs and fabric prints for which the label was prized throughout the 1980s and the early 1990s. She began painting full time in 1995 and her work has been the centre of more than 25 exhibitions throughout Australia and has featured in shows in China and Paris.

Wendy Arnold has been a finalist in prestigious art awards, including the Mosman Art Prize (twice), the Glover Prize (for landscapes) and Portia Geach Memorial Award. Arnold’s work is held in numerous private collections throughout Australia and New Zealand, as well as in Paris, Shanghai, London, Singapore, Dubai, Barcelona and in the USA.

Her work features in corporate collections including BHP Billiton, ING, NAB, Fox Studios, Stockland Hotel Group, Telstra, Gutterage Hasken & Davey, QBE Mercantile Mutual, SAS Institute, Woolpack Hotel, Avillion Hotel, Royal Motor Yacht Club and Ascot International. She was also commissioned to paint pieces for the Star City Casino refurbishment.
